ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Luci Torres. I used to co-own 2nd Hand Land the store. 2nd Hand Land the website is my current passion alongside my one year old daughter.

I hope this website will fill a gap online for vintage and pre-loved clothing. Instead of searching tons of stores online the vintage lover can come to 2nd Hand Land and have all their favourite stores gathered up on one site. We will be totally dedicated to vintage fashion, not upcycled or reproduction, just the real thing in its original condition.

By trade I'm a designer and patternmaker. My hobby was collecting vintage clothes. I have a passion for clothing in all its forms and have always loved vintage clothes.

They have a sense of history that can't really compare to anything else. I love to imagine who made the garment and who wore it. I love looking inside the garment at how it was made and the different techniques used. And I love that it's guilt free shopping as everything is recycled. All this makes vintage fashion special.

Thanks for visiting the site and I hope you find a little treasure to call your own.

I welcome any comments or thoughts about the site, you can contact me directly by email or through the social media outlets below.

ABOUT THE SHOP - Original 2nd Hand Land

Below are some pictures of the original 2nd Hand Land. The shop was situated at 281 Cleveland St. in Redfern.

We started trading July 2009 and it closed in March 2010. Not a long time, not even a year.
We were situated in a high traffic area (as in cars and trucks) where people are trying to walk by as fast as possible.

We had to have a gimmick. Our gimmick was great value.

We had some great stockists, traders that sold at markets around Sydney
offering something for everyone.

We were mentioned in www.thethousands.com.au and invited to participate in the 2010 Laneway Music Festival markets where we won best retailer award from the folks at the end of the day.

There were many good times had but the shop needed considerable attention and life had taken a happy turn with the news of a baby to come.
We were forced to close the doors and knuckle down in preparation of bubs imminent arrival.

This site hopes to keep the flame burning for the little vintage shop called 2nd Hand Land.

The mural which graced our front of shop was done by Jumbo and Zap. Two grafitti artists working in Sydney.  They collaborate on works around town. Jumbo has a website: http://www.jumboism.com/

Our shop sign was made by
Melissa Fallshaw.  A great prop designer and stylist working in fashion and film in Sydney.  Mel worked with found and recycled bits and pieces to create our logo. To check out more of her work press the link: http://melissafallshaw.com/
